Brrrr

Winter

Last half term we had hoped to do the topic of winter, however as the weather was so mild we decided to hold off and hope for more winter like weather! So now it is here we shall start with winter and see where it leads us. Percy the park keeper is popular at the moment, so the role play area will be turned into Percy’s house and we will be putting together some Percy story sacks to enhance the story telling experience. Starting with ‘One snowy night’

We will be of course experiencing the winter weather first hand, seeing how it affects our environment, how local animals cope and how we can help them. We will also be enjoying the winter weather while it is here, walking, exploring, going sledging, building snowmen etc, so please ensure your child brings wellies, hat and gloves to every session, we do have waterproof suits that we will also use to try and keep the children dry!

How to support your child’s learning at home:

  • Talk about winter when you are out and about, the changing weather, what it means to animals, food, celebrations and how they are unique to your family.
  • Practice road safety with your child
  • Share stories and songs about winter
  • We love to receive input from families, so please let us know your thoughts on topics, places we could visit, stories we could read, if there were any particular activities your child has talked about lots at home because they’ve loved it or really disliked it! Thank you
