Autumn leaves are falling down

We have enjoyed lots of autumn activities this past week and the week prior. We feel it is important the children experience the seasons and weather year round and how it changes their environment and community. septemer 2014 560

We have built a huge hedgehog house in Pre-school, visited the library and borrowed some Autumn themed books and stories, been for lots of walks around the village, made clay hedgehogs and creatures, collected many, many leaves, conkers, nuts, talked about the importance of not eating just any berries we see as they may make us very poorly. The children and Jodie sorted the3.10.14 750 lovely leaves they collected and looked at the different colours they turn and made a lovely window display, we’ve walked past the allotments and discussed the different things growing, mastered using nut crackers to open hazelnuts and harvested our courgettes and made cheese and courgette muffins.

We’ve practiced our harvest song that we will be singing at the Harvest festival that Allendale Primary School have very kindly invited us to on Thursday 23rd October at the Methodist Chapel. It goes to the tune of ‘here we go round the mulberry bush’. It would be great if you could sing this song at home too, some have already said the children have been singing it at home which is excellent! 3.10.14 672 3.10.14 659
